Happy Friday! As we end the week, I figured I would share with you some artwork from a current project. I’ve spent the past 5 years as a children’s book illustrator. It’s been great but I have always worked under someone else’s creative direction, be it a client or art director. As a side project, I’m currently working on my very own children’s book. Written and illustrated 100% by moi 🙂
I won’t delve too deep into the story other than to say it is about socks. Yep, socks. All of the art has been inked and I am in the coloring phase now. I’ve had the most practice as a colorist so this phase moves by pretty quickly. After this, I’ll begin the layout phase. I’m aiming for an adequate job. I feel many artists, and people in general, aim for perfection. Perfection doesn’t exist and it only slows things down. Obviously I want to do my best work but I’m not aiming for “perfect”. Anyhoo, enjoy your weekend and have a look at some color testing on this pile of socks. Until next time, so long everybody!
