Caricatures of the Week #8

Hey Hey everybody and welcome back to the Timid Lion Blog. What a whirlwind two months it has been. This is the busy time of year for caricature gigs and I am lucky enough to stay busy multiple days a month, drawing at weddings/after proms/etc.. It also happened to coincide with the St. Louis Blues historic Stanley Cup Playoffs run, which ended Wednesday with them winning the Stanley Cup for the first time!

Needless to say (as a huge Blues fan), it has been hard to stay productive during this run. My mind has been focused on Blues hockey. But, I did manage to keep up with all of my work. Here are a few of my favorite caricatures from the past week. These were all from Etsy purchases, which you can check out here. We are always open for commission and our caricatures start at just $10. Take a look at our amazing customers feedback! Send us a ROAR! We always ROAR! back 🙂 Enjoy the artwork!

The Team of DOOM!

Hey Hey and welcome back! Well, game 6 of the Stanley Cup Final didn’t go the way Blues fans had hoped. Oh well, they are a better road team so let’s march into Boston and spoil their party like they have been spoiling ours. It should make for a fun game 7.

Here is a quick piece that I put together today. I’m a big wrestling fan, especially older wrestling. One of my favorite tag teams as a kid was Ron Simmons and Butch Reed. They were a team called Doom. They won the World Tag Team Championship a few times in 1989 and 1990. They originally wore masks. I used to do a lot more of these wrestling prints and then I took a break. Thanks for taking a look and Let’s Go Blues!

Caricatures of the Week #7

Hey Hey! Welcome back to the Timid Lion blog. It’s been a few week’s since the last post here. I’ve been busy with caricatures and Blues hockey. The Blues took a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup Final last night and so Sunday could be a big day. I’m very excited. And nervous. One more Gloria universe! Just one more Gloria!

Anywho, here are a few of my favorite caricatures over the last week or two. March-June is the busy time of year for live caricature work. From after-prom parties to wedding receptions, we are all over the place. I haven’t been able to get down to Pieces but hopefully I can get back there next week, I enjoy working there. The Etsy sales have stayed strong, this year has been busier than any other. A few projects were quite large, including a series for Washington University that featured 15 color caricatures and a 24″x36″ poster. Whew. I am officially caught up now so if you are interesting in purchasing some artwork, now is the time to jump in! Enjoy a look at our favorite caricatures, until next time, so long everybody!

Caricatures of the Week #6

Whew! What a week. The St. Louis Blues have advanced to the Stanley Cup Final for the first time since 1970. I’m a huge hockey fan and I have to be honest, it has been hard to concentrate on anything other than this playoff run. I’ve listened to “Gloria” by Laura Branigan way more times than I care to think and I hope I get to listen to it 4 more times. Here are a few of my favorite caricatures from the past week. Caricatures of the Week #5

Hey Hey and welcome back! It’s Friday, which means it is time for another edition of the Caricatures of the Week! Every Friday, I share some of my favorites caricatures drawn in the past seven days. This time of year is very busy for caricature gigs as there are lots of wedding receptions, after proms and corporate events that need entertainment. If you are in the St. Louis area and are looking for something fun for your next event, contact us for more information! We also sell our caricatures through our Etsy store. Once you make your purchase, we will be in touch with how to send photos to us. Let’s take a look at our favorite artwork from last week:

A few of these are going to be used to make samples of digital caricatures. That is a new item that I just added to the Etsy store so I need to bulk the sample section up there. A few of these had the names on the art as they were for a wedding party. Obviously, the names have been redacted. Well, that will do it for now. We will see you here next week and until next time, so long everybody!

Beer!

Hey Hey! Welcome back to another post here at the Timid Lion Blog. Today is Wednesday, which means today is Game 3 of the Western Conference Final. I’m a huge hockey fan/St. Louis Blues fan. These games are stressful but this playoff run has been fun to watch. Hopefully we can play “Gloria” tonight!

Here is a fun piece I put together last night. This comes from a sketch that I created a few years ago. There was a local beer festival in town and I was there to draw caricatures. These were from a series of sketches that I thought could have made fun prints. Then I realized that no one was going to have any interest in purchasing that type of thing. These sketched went into my “Future Projects” file and I played with them last night for about a half hour and came up with this fun 1960’s style illustration. It could be tweaked but it was a fun creative exercise.

Look at how happy they are. They are double-fisting the Bud Select 🙂 and having a good time. These fun projects are like digital sketches. They aren’t really going to be used for anything but you get to test your skills and try new things. Thanks for looking, let me know what you think. Until next time, so long everybody! Let’s Go Blues!
