Next Project!

Hey Hey and welcome back. It’s been hard trying to get back into the swing of things. I got a little too wrapped up in the Stanley Cup Playoffs. My big goal moving forward is to quit lingering on projects forever and ever. There is this urge to make things “perfect” and that just doesn’t exist. I’ve been working on my first solo children’s book for over two years. Imagine how much work I could have accomplished in that time had I put forth my best effort and let it go. I’m incredibly happy with this book but creating is the goal. With my mind, I feel I need to get these projects out of my head or they will linger and drive me nuts. Soon, I will release info on how to purchase a copy of my book, “The Secret of Clean Socks”. Stay tuned for that. In the mean time, here is a sketch for my next project. This is an illustration spread for a library. It should be a lot of fun and I can already see things in my head, which is generally a good sign. Until next time, get out there and create something cool today 😀

Caricatures of the Week #7

Hey Hey! Welcome back to the Timid Lion blog. It’s been a few week’s since the last post here. I’ve been busy with caricatures and Blues hockey. The Blues took a 3-2 lead in the Stanley Cup Final last night and so Sunday could be a big day. I’m very excited. And nervous. One more Gloria universe! Just one more Gloria!

Anywho, here are a few of my favorite caricatures over the last week or two. March-June is the busy time of year for live caricature work. From after-prom parties to wedding receptions, we are all over the place. I haven’t been able to get down to Pieces but hopefully I can get back there next week, I enjoy working there. The Etsy sales have stayed strong, this year has been busier than any other. A few projects were quite large, including a series for Washington University that featured 15 color caricatures and a 24″x36″ poster. Whew. I am officially caught up now so if you are interesting in purchasing some artwork, now is the time to jump in! Enjoy a look at our favorite caricatures, until next time, so long everybody!

Caricatures of the Week #5

Hey Hey and welcome back! It’s Friday, which means it is time for another edition of the Caricatures of the Week! Every Friday, I share some of my favorites caricatures drawn in the past seven days. This time of year is very busy for caricature gigs as there are lots of wedding receptions, after proms and corporate events that need entertainment. If you are in the St. Louis area and are looking for something fun for your next event, contact us for more information! We also sell our caricatures through our Etsy store. Once you make your purchase, we will be in touch with how to send photos to us. Let’s take a look at our favorite artwork from last week:

A few of these are going to be used to make samples of digital caricatures. That is a new item that I just added to the Etsy store so I need to bulk the sample section up there. A few of these had the names on the art as they were for a wedding party. Obviously, the names have been redacted. Well, that will do it for now. We will see you here next week and until next time, so long everybody!

Caricatures of the Week #3

Hello once again and welcome back! Happy Friday. We are back for another edition of our Caricatures of the Week series. Each week, I draw dozens of caricatures. This week was particularly busy as I had both an 8-person and 24-person order come in through the Etsy store. While drawing those, I was watching old episodes of Alf. This is my job. People pay me money and I get to draw caricatures and watch Alf. That is so cool to me.

If you are interested in checking out the other Caricature of the Week posts, click here! Also, we are always taking commissions for caricatures. But you knew that already, I won’t bore you with sales techniques. Click here for more info on that.

Most of these caricatures came from my visit to Pieces STL last Friday. It is such a fun place to draw, great atmosphere and wonderful people. I can’t say enough good things about them and if you’re in St. Louis, please give them a visit. Enjoy looking at our favorite drawings of the week and have a great weekend. Until next time, so long everybody!

Caricatures of the Week #2

Hello once again everyone and welcome back! It’s Friday and that means it is time for the Caricatures of the Week! As I said in last week’s post, this will be a regular weekly gimmick here on the blog. I’ll be continually looking for new content and with as many caricatures as I draw every week, this just seemed like a natural fit.

Last week, I had my regular weekly/bi-weekly night of drawing at Pieces in St. Louis as well as an overnight lock-in for high school seniors. I was able to sleep all day Saturday so staying up overnight wasn’t as big of an ordeal as I thought it would be. I’ve selected a few from each of those gigs as well as a few of our Etsy store sales. You can always purchase a caricature for yourself over at Etsy. Art starts at just $10! Until next time, so long everybody 🙂
